Congress and Lobbyists

All in the Family.

The word “lobbyist” has a negative connotation in American politics. A lobbyist is simply a professional persuader who tries to get members of Congress to act (or not act) on a certain policy agenda. Many people would be surprised to know that many lobbyists actually write the bills that are introduced and passed in Congress. It’s common knowledge there is a close relationship between lobbyists and members of Congress. Legislators relies on experts to supply them with valuable information. But what happens when family members are Washington lobbyists?
