Super PACs: Stewart & Colbert

Super PACs and Political Parody.

Super PACs were made possible by the Citizens United decision. Super PACs  may not make contributions to candidate campaigns or parties, but may engage in unlimited political spending independently of the campaigns. Unlike traditional PACs, they can raise funds from individuals, corporations, unions, and other groups without any legal limit on donation size. The clip below is from Commedy Central’s show The Colbert Report. The show’s reporting and presentations on Super PACs won a Peabody Award. Watch the clip and answer the questions that follow.
