Presidential campaigns most allocate their time, resources, and money to the tipping point states that might swing the election. The graphic above is a map of the United States with the number inside of the state indicating how many times the two campaigns, Trump and Clinton, visited each state in 2016. Study the graph above and answer the questions that follow.

1.  What are two patterns you can identify based on this map?  What hypotheses can you create to explain them?

2.  How can this map be used to defend or refute the Electoral College as the mechanism to elect the President of the United States.
